Chain Link Fence is arguably one of the most popular types of fencing solutions available especially in the Sacramento area. Chain Link, sometimes referred to as "cyclone fence", is simple in design, affordable and extremely durable. It's open weave structure makes chain link fence easy to see through and is a popular choice in sporting applications and commercial enclosures.
At Superior Fence Construction and Repair, Inc. we like to design a chain link fence and gate that fits your specific application.
Not all chain link fences are the same. Be careful when comparing!
Chain-link has four elements: fabric, framework, fittings and gates. How you combine them makes all the difference. Each of these components are available in a range of weights (gauges) and types of protective coatings. Providers can mix and match components in an effort to shave costs or differentiate their product. Our minimum recommendations will typically follow the minimum practices defined by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
While we like to look at each chain link job and provide a design taylored for your needs, there are some basics we normally follow.
Chain link fabric gauge and size: We recommend 11 gauge (11 gauge=.120” thick) in most applications but for sure not less than 11.5 gauge (11 ½ gauge=.113”). You will feel the difference versus what you get at the "big box" stores! The most common mesh sizes are 2” or 2 1/2", but smaller meshes are available for projects that require a higher degree of security.
Framework: Frame work is the tubular steel frame that chain link fabric is attached to. The frame work is comprised of three components; top rail, line posts, and terminal posts. Terminal posts are set in concrete and are end, corner, and gate posts. Line posts are smaller in diameter than terminal posts and are the intermediate posts between terminal posts. These should also be set in concrete. The top rail is attached to the terminal posts and passes through fittings which are attached to line posts. This provides a horizontal frame that supports that fabric.
Post frameworks: 3’-4’ high Fence
Post frameworks: 5’-6’ high Fence
Additionally there are many options with colors, vinyl coatings, and privacy slats.
